Getting a Segway is certainly the most exciting thing ever! What’s even more, is riding it across places! These battery-powered vehicles are the best ones to get too close by places, are smooth and environmental friendly! Deemed to be the future of transport, Segway’s are entertaining and used even by mall cops! Just like other vehicles, there are precautions to be taken; on doing this, you can have endless fun for hours! Here are a few tips to keep your Segway balanced at all times!
How to enjoy a ride on Segway?
1. Take Precautions, Remain Calm
Practice on a Segway, using the help of an experienced rider, and make sure to capture their movements. Moving on a Segway can be tricky at first, so do remember to wear a helmet and safety pads! Keep your feet firmly planted on the board, use both your hands to hold on to the handles (if present). On doing so, first, you must balance yourself properly without moving the Segway- this is important, because if you lose balance here then you will most certainly fall.!
2. Practice Makes Perfect
First things first, make yourself comfortable with moving on a Segway, let it come naturally. Start with moving forward slowly, then move towards the sides, and finally try going backward! If you have a Segway Hoverboard, this will take a little longer as gaining balance without anything to hold, is tricky! But once you’ve got this down (after loads of practice that is), you can now try out other moves (which have really cool names)! If you still haven’t gained balance, don’t worry, it does take a bit of time especially on a hoverboard.
3. Take Your Time and Ride Safe
Learn various other moves such as the ‘The Old Man’, ‘The IDK’, and ‘The Frogger’- these can make you dizzy- take the time to perfect them! Always keep in mind that Segway’s can be dangerous if not used properly. When you are riding in public, keep a distance from rough terrain and stones- they might cause you to lose balance! Keep children around you safe, by riding slowly when they are close-by; avoid sudden maneuvers and turns which may topple the vehicle! Ride safely, under the speed limit and follow the rules.
4. Make Regular Checks
Before you get yours, make sure you get all the details of this Segway that you want to purchase, including the faults that are likely to occur on long term usage-and how to avoid them. Make sure to check your Segway for small stones, nails and other tidbits which may bring about sudden wear and tear. Regularly clean out your vehicle as mentioned in the User Manual that it comes with so that it lasts longer. Don’t push your Segway beyond its speed limit, it may cause the irregular weathering of the wheels-causing imbalance. If these checks are not made frequently, they may cause mechanical problems with the board- which will go on to cause off balance issues for sure. If your Segway is in need of servicing, give it to an Official Service Centre- it may be a bit pricey, but it won’t cause further problems.
5. Ride on and Have Fun
Throw those worries aside, and have fun! Believe in yourself, follow the rules and don’t get hurt! Pay attention to the warnings from the board, and keep a safe gap between yourself and the handle, as leaning on it may cause it to go out of control! If you notice that the Segway is malfunctioning while riding, hit the brakes to come to a slow halt. These boards aren’t meant for sudden movements and immediate stops- such things can cause you to fall off the hoverboard.
Most importantly, have fun with it-that is what Segway’s are all about after all!
